What is Botulinum Toxin?
Botulinum toxin is a purified protein. It is injected into muscles, causing them to relax. This results in softening of facial expressions and can reduce the signs of ageing.

How long does it last?
It usually takes 2-3 days for the effects to become apparent and can last up to 4 months, depending on your response to the toxin and how strong your muscles are.
What side effects are there?
Botulinum toxin can cause side effects in the same way all medicines can. Any side effects experienced are usually mild and temporary. There may be some discomfort when the needle inserts the skin and there can be some bleeding or bruising at this site, but this should settle in a few days.

What happens during treatment?
Firstly we will remove any make up and cleanse the areas to be treatment. A fine needle is used to place the toxin into the muscle. The treatment takes about 15-20 minutes.
You should avoid rubbing the area and any beauty treatments such as facial massages, extreme heat and saunas for up to 2 weeks. A review appointment will be necessary in 3 weeks after your treatment and any slight adjustments can be made then if needed.
